Third Arrest Made in Connection of April 8 Homicide at Joes Liquors

At about 6:00 am Thursday morning, the Antioch SWAT team served a high-risk search warrant in the 1100 block of D Street in connection to the homicide that occurred on April 8th in the 1900 block of D Street.

Eight people were detained while one person was arrested according to Antioch Police Lt. Tony Morefield. The name and age of the subject is currently being withheld because  police are currently investigating the subject. Morefield stated that because the investigation is still active, that he could not release any information about this mornings search.

The search came after  two teenagers with gang ties were arrested and charged with murder of Rushawn Thomas, a 37-year-old Antioch man in front of Joes Liquors on D Street around 4:30 pm.

On Wednesday, police arrested Antonio Ayala, 18, and Anthony Perez, 17. They were  arrested and charged with murder as well as gang enhancements in connection with the death of Thomas.
