Suspected DUI Driver Takes Out Gas Meter on Delta Fair Blvd in Antioch, Shuts Down Roadway

by ECT

At 7:33 pm Sunday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters and Antioch Police responded to a report of a vehicle into a house in the 2300 block of Kendree Street off Delta Fair Blvd in the City of Antioch.

Upon arrival, CONFIRE located a home where a vehicle had gone through a fence on Kendree Street and struck the side of the house where the driver took out a gas meter. In the process, while damaging a gas line, the driver continued taking out the gate and continuing westbound on Delta Fair Blvd.

Suspect vehicle located several blocked away on Belle Ct.

The vehicle was eventually located on Belle Drive at Belle Court with parts of the fence still on the hood along with a cracked windshield.

The incident shut down both directions of Delta Fair Blvd as the incident broke a gas line sending natural gas into the area and causing an odor for several surrounding neighborhoods.

While police were on scene, the suspect returned to the scene walking by officers and firefighters. A witness recognized the driver and pointed him out to police where the male suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The driver was being held under suspicious of being under the influence.

No further details were available and no ETA was provided as to when the roadway would open back up. PG&E was requested to the scene.

This is the result of having virtually ZERO Traffic Enforcement for the last 10 years. In Antioch, you can drive drunk as long as you don’t hit anything.

So true! And when they do patrol, they are in the middle of know where, like at Garrow/ Davidson, watching the 10 cars that dribpve there and seeing who will not stop all the way. Which makes zero sense when a cop can write tickets all day just patrolling Lone Tree alone.
