by ECT

The Martinez Detention Facility inmate who attempted suicide Tuesday morning was pronounced deceased by doctors late yesterday afternoon while at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez.

The inmate is identified as 54-year-old John Hansen of Discovery Bay.

According to Jimmy Lee, Contra Costa County Sheriffs spokesperson, Hansen was sentenced on multiple counts of child molestation. The Office of the Sheriff was the investigating agency and he was awaiting transfer to state prison.

On Tuesday morning, at about 7:31, Hansen attempted suicide while on a housing module. Facility staff found him unresponsive. Deputy Sheriffs and medical staff at the jail immediately rendered first aid. The fire department and an ambulance also responded. Hansen was taken to Contra Costa Regional Medical Center.

This incident is now classified as an in custody death. The countywide officer-involved fatal incident protocol has been invoked. This case is under investigation by the Office of the Sheriff and the District Attorney’s Office.

And nothing of value has been lost. Its a shame the pervert used his body as an instrument of abuse but he couldn’t handle being locked up in prison.

Great article. Best news I’ve heard all week. More of them should just off themselves.
