Will also sit on four other legislative panels
Sacramento, CA – Senator Steve Glazer, D-Orinda, was nominated as chairman of the Governmental Organization Committee Wednesday by Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon.
Sen. Glazer was also assigned to the committees on Budget & Fiscal Review, Business, Professions & Economic Development, Human Services and Insurance.
As part of the Budget Committee, Sen. Glazer will be a member of the Subcommittee on State Administration and General Government, a post he held in the 2015-16 session.
As chairman of the Governmental Organization Committee, Sen. Glazer will oversee public records, open meetings laws, alcohol and tobacco sales, gambling, outdoor advertising and emergency services/natural disasters.
Sen. Glazer, who was re-elected by the 7th District to his first full four-year term last month, served on the G.O. Committee in 2015-16.
“This is an important area that the state oversees, and I look forward to providing fairness, balance and thoughtful oversight in an open and transparent process,” Sen. Glazer said.
Sen. Glazer’s nomination is expected to be reviewed by the Senate Rules Committee when the Legislature reconvenes on Jan. 4 for the 2017-18 legislative session.
