Pittsburg Unified School District Announces Vacancy on Board of Education

The Pittsburg Unified School District Board of Education is now accepting applications to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term of former Trustee Joe Arenivar. The term of this open seat will run from the date of the appointment until December, 2022. This seat will be open for election in November, 2022.

In accordance with Education Code Section 35107 to be eligible for election or appointment to a seat on the governing board of a school district a person must be:

  • Eighteen (18) years of age or older
  • A citizen of the state
  • A resident within the boundaries of the Pittsburg Unified School District
  • A registered California voter
  • Not disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office

Interested parties who meet the legal eligibility for membership on the Board of Education are invited to submit a Candidate Information Sheet to:

The deadline for candidates to submit their application materials is 5:00 p.m. on March 11, 2022.

The application is available on our website on our Board Vacancy web page. Hard copies are available at the District Office at 2000 Railroad in the Superintendent’s Office and lobby.

The Board will interview eligible applicants and select one to appoint at a special public meeting on March 21, 2022. The Board plans to make the provisional appointment at its regular public meeting on March 23rd, 2022.
