Pittsburg Police Say Man Shot in the Face During Attempted Robbery

On Sunday evening just after 11:00 PM, Pittsburg Police Officers responded to the area of East 9th Street and Harbor Street for a report of a man who had been shot in the City of Pittsburg.

When officers arrived, they located the man suffering from a shotgun round to the face. The man was conscious and transported via AMR to an area hospital. While at the hospital, the man provided officers with additional information, and stated he was seated in his vehicle with a friend when two males approached the vehicle armed with guns.

The two males attempted to rob the man, during which time one of the suspects fire a shotgun at him striking him in the face and head with pellets from the shotgun round. The responsibles fled the area in an unknown vehicle.  The man is listed in critical, but stable condition.

Police said this incident continues to be an active investigation and detective are working on leads.

Today, this type of act should be anticipated and one should always have something with them to protect oneself. Keep an eye on who is around and approaching your vehicle and be ready to take action.
