Pittsburg Police Say Homeowner Acted in Self Defense, Identify Suspects Shot and Killed During Robbery

On May 1 just after 9:00PM Pittsburg Police Officers responded to the 1000 block of Jewett Avenue in response to a shooting call where a homeowner acted in self defense.

According to police, the victim had called 911 and stated that the suspects had broken into his house in an apparent robbery attempt.  During a physical altercation the suspects were shot and killed. There were two other adult victims inside of the residence at the time of the incident.  The homeowner was assaulted prior to the shooting and he was later treated and released from a local hospital.  The other two victims were not transported to the hospital.

Police say that information to this point shows the homeowner acted in self-defense.

There was a home invasion robbery at the residence on April 28th, 2015, where four suspects were arrested for their involvement.  It is unknown at this point if these incidents are related.  Detectives are following up on leads and still have several individuals to contact.  Anyone with information relative to this case should contact Detective Joe Terry at (925) 252-4181.

The deceased suspects in this case have been identified as:

  • Carnell Taylor Jr. – 26 year old male from San Francisco
  • Jason Johnson – 28 year old male from San Francisco

Police were not releasing any additional information on these suspects at this time. They also did not release any additional information.
