The Pittsburg Police Department said Monday that they are investigating a Friday morning shooting that left one male dead.

The incident occurred Friday at 2:30 am at the Belmont Apartment Complex on Power Ave.

According to Captain Steve Albanese, officers arrived where they located a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. Officers provided medical treatment to the man and he was later transported to John Muir Medical Center Walnut Creek where he underwent several surgeries.

Due to complications from his injuries the man, Televe Johnson, 29, died approximately 12 hours later.

Albanese said based on initial information from the investigation, detectives learned that Johnson was at a family gathering at a residence in the city of Antioch. After he left the gathering, he drove to his residence with the apartment complex and arrived shortly before 2:30am. As Johnson walked to his apartment, an unknown subject(s) shot him several times.

The unknown suspect(s) then fled the scene in an unknown direction.  Detectives are currently contacting witnesses and obtaining additional statements.

Additional information is not available at this time. This was the 6th murder of 2019.
