Concord, CA26-yr-old Kevin Davis Jr. of Pittsburg, was identified as the suspect in this investigation after video surveillance of him entering Sears prior to the burglary was released on the news and social media.

CPD received numerous tips from citizens who identified the suspect as Mr. Davis who according to their December release, said Davis was in Sears (at the Sun Valley Mall) at the close of business and hid in a back hallway until everyone left. He then smashed a jewelry case and stole 127 rings with a retail value of $218,000.

Indicia linked to the crime was recovered at Davis’ residence but none of the stolen property was located. Davis was released from custody on 1/3/17 pending further investigation.

Additional evidence was obtained through search warrants, implicating Davis in the burglary and a warrant was issued for his arrest on 2/2/17.

Davis turned himself in at the Contra Costa County Superior Courthouse on 2/8/17 and remains in custody on the felony charges of 460(b) and 487(a) of the penal code with a bail of $40,000.
