Pittsburg: Firefighters Limit Vegetation Fire to 10-acres, Protect Homes

At 6:56 pm Thursday, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to a vegetation fire on Range Road and W. Leland in Pittsburg that was burning in a field and moving towards homes.

Upon arrival, crews located a 5-acre fire with a large tree on fire. A second-alarm response was issued for structure protection for homes on Dover Way. By 7:10pm, the fire crew to 10-acres with the fire now threatening power lines.

Units were able to strategically get in place preventing the fire from expanding by moving structure protection to Orinda Circle. By 7:30 the fire was deemed under control and second alarm units were released.

The incident caused a giant cloud of smoke to be sent into the air, however, no one was injured in the fire and no structures were damaged.
