The Pittsburg Police Department reports that early Saturday morning, at approximately 1:30 am, officers were conducting patrols in the area of Harbor Street near Garcia Avenue when officers heard several gunshots coming from the 500 block of Garcia Avenue.
As officers arrived in the area, they observed several subjects and vehicles fleeing.
Police say that a large gathering of approximately 100 people were leaving the location. Officers were then informed there was a subject suffering from several gunshot wounds to the upper torso located inside the building.
Both Pittsburg officers and medical personnel from AMR and Contra Costa Fire performed lifesaving efforts on the subject. Unfortunately, this subject was later pronounced deceased at the scene and their name is being withheld pending notification with family.
During the investigation, officers were informed of a second subject being treated for gunshot wounds at a local hospital. This subject is currently listed in critical, but stable, condition.
The Pittsburg Police Department Investigations Division responded to the scene along with CSI personnel, and took over the investigation. During the investigation detectives were able to locate video surveillance of the incident along with detailed information from witnesses at the scene.
