Tuesday morning, the Kiwanis Club of The Delta-Antioch was able to give back to several Antioch schools during the 37th Annual Holiday Run Awards Breakfast by providing them with checks for their participation.

The Kiwanis Club held their 37th Annual Holiday Run and Walk for Health in December (click here for photos) which had an increased attendance of over 450 participants which is up from last year’s 406.

The school with the largest amount of registrants received a $500, $300 for second, and $200 for third. Funds were also donated the Antioch Library as well as Antioch Police Activities League.

Kiwanis Club President John Sullivan stated that they are proud to help the community.

“One child and one community at a time. We are a service organization that raises funds through various fundraisers throughout the year. This holiday run is one of our fundraisers and all the money we raise we give back to the community,’ said Sullivan. “We do it to help all special needs children, adults, or any other organization who needs funds financially, they can count on Kiwanis. That is who we are and what we do. We are very proud to help the community.

Tom Torlakson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, was in attendance helping pass out awards and stated he is looking to get more involved in the Holiday Run in the future to help take it to the next level.

Very proud of our Kiwanis Club! Along with giving out trophies and cash awards, Tom Torlakson has been a member of the Kiwanis Club of the Delta for 38 years.
