Just after 8:00 am Saturday, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to a report of a garage fire in the 2400 block of Johns Way.
Crews responding reported a large column of white smoke and upon arrival located a fully involved garage. As crews began to mobilize, the fire made its way into the attic and then through the roof.
The quick spread of the fire caused firefighters to stay out of the home as the roof collapsed and instead limit damages to protect neighboring homes where they were successful.
No firefighters or residents were reported injured in the fire and the cause is still under investigation. The home was deemed a total loss.
