Just after 12:30 pm Sunday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters saved an Antioch home on Warbler Drive after containing a fire to the garage.

According to a firefighter on scene, this was a textbook save as crews arrived to smoke showing and entered the home to ensure the fire had not spread and shut the back door to limit air into the garage. Firefighters then established a two man in and two man out to attack the fire from the side door of the garage while working to remove the garage door.

The fire was under control and fire timer was stopped just after the 10-minute mark. The fire left major smoke damage to the garage and up to three cars were damaged in the blaze. PG&E also responded to the call to check on the utilities.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No one was injured in the incident.

Editors note: Contributing to the success of this incident was this occurred in the middle of the day and there were no other incidents going on.
