For the second night in a row, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District crews responded to a residential fire in Antioch which was fully engulfed upon arrival at 8:35 pm Saturday night on Sunset Dr.  The incident involved a duplex and no one was injured in the incident.

Upon arrival, fire crews searched the perimeter to ensure no one was inside and then made an aggressive fight on the fire to ensure it did not spread to the surrounding buildings–a home behind the fire was evacuated as a precaution.  Antioch Police were also on scene for traffic and crowd control as the road was shut down as crews worked.

The fire was contained by 8:55 pm with crews were on scene for roughly 2 hours and 14 minutes and PG&E was called. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

CONFIRES quick actions and good decision making likely saved the surrounding homes around the incident.

It’s a good thing we have Firefighters to help. That may not be the case soon if they close more fire Stations. That means instead of 1 house it will more likely be 2 or 3 houses by the time the fire Department shows up.. I hope not!

We need our fire departments why don’t these people that are wanting to cut the fire departments take a cut from their pay and keep the fire dept. Love our fire fighters. *HUGS*
