Photo: Vehicle Accident on E 18th in Antioch

by ECT

Here are a few photographs from an earlier accident on E. 18th next door to Macs Ol House in Antioch where a van ran into the back of a big rig truck around 12:58 pm Wednesday afternoon. A technical rescue was originally called, but it was cancelled and only AMR was needed.  The incident did not effect traffic with the exception of one lane being blocked as crews worked in the eastbound direction. Folks driving from Oakley to Antioch on E. 18th was not effected.

These shots are a perfect example of why one needs to pay attention when driving.

The fire department does not call this type of incident a technical rescue. A technical rescue be called for a high angle rescue, swift water rescue, trench rescue, heavy rescue (collapse), or confined space rescue. These types of incidents are more complex and require special resources and highly trained rescuers (firefighters). A car accident with occupants trapped require specialized tools and equipment but much less resources and manpower are required (typically). Hope that helps.

Yes thank you Ben for clarifying it for me. I’ve just never herd the term technical rescue be used before. Which I should since I work in the medical field…lol
