PG&E Inspects Transmission Gas Pipeline in Discovery Bay

by ECT

Discovery Bay, Calif.— Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is working to complete a gas transmission project in Discovery Bay. PG&E is currently inspecting a pipeline and its casings at Bixler Road and Highway 4, and taking steps to prevent any corrosion on the pipeline.

PG&E is constantly working to make its system safer and more reliable. As part of the company’s ongoing safety maintenance program, it regularly inspects pipelines using sophisticated technology. PG&E’s annual corrosion control maintenance inspects for potential contact between the pipeline and pipe casing which could eventually lead to corrosion.

“Safety is at the forefront of everything we do at PG&E, and this includes annual leak surveys of our natural gas transmission pipelines. If necessary, we take appropriate actions, ensuring the safest gas transmission system possible. For local residents wondering what PG&E may be doing in their community, this is a visible and important project,” said Vic Baker, senior manager for PG&E’s Diablo Division.

PG&E has been reaching out to area customers to ensure they are aware of the project. However, customers should not expect any gas service interruption or road closures.
Construction started at the end of August and is scheduled to be complete in November.
