Man Attempts to Light Bed on Fire at Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch

At 4:45 pm Wednesday, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to the 4th floor of Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch for a report of a patient who set a fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters located a bed that was set on fire with a lighter by a subject. Firefighters reported that Sutter Delta staff’s quick response prevented the fire from spreading and creating a larger incident.

The subject was taken into custody by Antioch Police and was going to be transferred to County Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

No further information was released about the damage or incident.

Terrific! Now, you can’t even go to a hospital for fear that some bozo will set the place on fire. How did he get a lighter? Aren’t those taken away from them when they are admitted?

Have you ever been to a hospital,,that ask why are you there and for i.d. and insurance card.. do they ask if you have a lighter on you nope basically you can take a gun into the emergency room..

I don’t know why they though a psyche evaluation was necessary. Doesn’t everybody do this?
