The following statement was released by Liberty High School Principal Patrick Walsh after Brentwood Police confirmed they were on campus Friday and another taken to the hospital for an injury.
Today some students created a significant disruption at lunch, beginning with the throwing of water balloons and escalating to the throwing of water bottles. One student was taken to the hospital by ambulance. We are reviewing video footage and taking disciplinary action as warranted.
We also cancelled tonight’s Powder Puff football game. Additionally, we have suspended all extracurricular activities until further notice. It is unfortunate that we must take this action, however today’s events were unacceptable.
First and foremost, I must ensure the safety of our students. School must be a safe place to learn, eat lunch, and hold extracurricular activities.
Next week I plan to meet with student leadership groups to review our expectations for student behavior. Hopefully, these discussions will lead to a positive and productive end of our school year.
If your son or daughter has any additional information that would be useful to the school administration, please have him/her see his/her den administrator.
Sincerely,
Pat Walsh

I am truly disappointed in the school this is the 3rd or 4th water bottle incident in the past month or so. And just now are taking action. Last time someone hurt their leg and was taken by ambulance. They should should also look at Snapchat videos from the kids it is blowing up. And some of the kids are in leadership and seniors doing this. Time to wake up..
Thank you! This is not the first time this has happened this year.
Water balloon fights have been a yearly tradition, I don’t understand how suddenly this year it got this bad.
It’s kids that don’t have respect for others lives or well being because the way parents raise them. Unfortunately we see it every day now. It’s these kids parents fault for never teaching there children right from wrong. They don’t care who gets hurt anymore. Kids have no respect for authority or their own parents any longer, they need to have the shit slapped out of them. These kids don’t fear repercussions because punishment is never there anymore, everybody’s too worried about hurting their feelings. These kids know they are going to hurt somebody and that is what they want, they get video and then they get likes. My children tell me that kids laugh at administration, instead of being scared of repercussions. It’s sad.
Apparently they ran out of water balloons and a couple of kids threw what they had. It IS the end of year. Too bad some got hurt. In 1973 we acted out also. Short lived. Some expelled and did not get on the platform to graduate. Held back diplomas, etc.
That is the problem. I am tired of everyone being afraid. Of all this P.C. Business the schools are doing. It is time for people to stand up put their big girl underwear on and do the right thing. I send my kid to school to learn and not deal with all this crap.
Maybe you should have gotten concerned 3 or 4 times ago…it’s always somebody elses fault.
You have Snapchats? Share those with administration now…not when something serious has occurred. If you’re so concerned, see something, say something…NOW!!
yes mommy
Just to let you know I have and I have yelled at the school since the first one and have gone to district. But nothing is ever done other than I am sorry. So before you make such comments maybe think first
Mommy, please slap your children.
snitches get stitches
People need to stop being afraid and speak up and tell the school and administration to get their act together stop being reactive and be proactive. You shouldn’t be afraid of doing the right thing. That is stupid.
You guys never went thru this in high school? how boring were you at that time? kids will be kids and yes it’s unfortunate someone got hurt
Principal Patrick Walsh can’t even make a quality decision about permitting a senior class member graduate with his military uniform on. Honestly, do you think he can handle a water balloon fight?
Send this guy back to Palm Desert where he belongs. This school is to much for him to handle, he’s not up to the task.
