Letters: Residents Offer Support for Karen Rarey for City Council

by ECT

The following two Letters to the Editor offer support for Brentwood City Council Candidate Karen Rarey:

Dear Editor:

I would like to put in a good word for my friend and fellow community volunteer, Karen Rarey, who is running for the Brentwood City Council.

My passion has always been in the area of parks and recreation to help promote physical fitness among our youth.  I look for candidates for public office who share this passion.  I have found this in Karen Rarey.

When Karen moved here in 1995, Brentwood had a population of around 10,000.  She served on the very first Brentwood Parks and Recreation Commission and helped in the creation of the City’s first master plan.  She oversaw the opening of the Brentwood Family Aquatic Complex and Skate Board Park and helped in the design of the Sunset Athletic Complex.

Karen is a past member of the Contra Costa County Transportation Authority Citizens Advisory Committee and has served as a member of the Brentwood Advisory Neighborhood Committee.  Also, she has served on various non-profit boards including serving as past president for the Liberty Union High School District Educational Foundation, the Kiwanis Club of Brentwood, and as a Director for the John Marsh Historis Trust.

As a testament to her commitment to her community, she received the 2012 Citizen of the Year Award from the City of Brentwood.

I hope you will join me in voting for Karen Rarey for Brentwood City Council on November 8th.

Sincerely,

Sandra Myers
Brentwood, Ca

Dear Editor,

My name is Doug Wells, my wife Linda , and I, would like to endorse Karen Rarey for Brentwood city counsel.

We have been Brentwood citizens since 1994, and have had the pleasure of knowing Karen and her family for twenty of those years.

Karen has always been active in the community, doing everything from park planning, volunteer work, and even scout leader which our sons were a part of..In 1998 along with the red cross, Karen helped us immensely when we had a tragic fire in our home.

Personal friendship aside I will say she is a pillar of our community, with deep roots, and drive that will be an asset to the future direction of Brentwood.

Sincerely,

Doug & Linda Wells
Brentwood
