Letter: Writer Supports Doug Hardcastle for County Supervisor

by ECT

Dear Editor:

Doug Hardcastle is the best candidate for the job of Contra Costa County Supervisor. He is an all-around upstanding citizen and servant to his country and community. Doug served his country in the military; public office in his community, and owns a business in the county.

Doug is a proven leader and is not afraid to take on the tough issues. His combination of experience, knowledge and commitment to serve the people of Contra Costa is unsurpassed by no other candidate.

Doug Hardcastle has been the first candidate to take immediate action on the incumbent by speaking out against the 33% pay increase that she voted to give herself. This was one example of continued wasteful spending by the county. Fortunately, the incumbent backed out before the increase could be put in place.

We need to elect Doug Hardcastle June 7th , and provide new, strong, proven leadership on the Board of Supervisors. Please join me in voting for Doug Hardcastle on June 7th. To get involved in his campaign, please visit www.doughardcastle.com.

Sincerely,
Carma Dutra

I will not vote for Hardcastle because of the problems at the water district and his involvement. I have voted for Steve Barr.

Someone is delusional. Doug is not tough on the issues, he is weak on them. Name one thing he has done that can be attributed to him. His record shows he is a yes man.

“Doug Hardcastle has been the first candidate to take immediate action on the incumbent by speaking out against the 33% pay increase that she voted to give herself.” Really, because he did not even get involved in any recall action. That would have been taking action.

This guy is perfect for all you racist Trump minded folks. If you really listened to him at the forum last week you would know this isn’t a guy that wants to understand and help make things better. He wants to stand in judgement of others and push anyone else out of the way.
Hardcastle is the WORST of all the candidates.

I like Bernie and Donald. I like everyone but will not vote for a used vehicle sales person to represent me. Sorry Doug.

What has he done? What has he stood for? He is Brian Montgomerys puppet. He says he has a solution to the fire board woes. But he won’t tell us what that is until he is supervisor. That don’t sound like a guy interested in helping. Sounds like a campaign strategy.

It's not rocket science May 18, 2016 - 12:31 am

Both Doug Hardcastle and his letter writing friend forgot to check the rules when it comes to salary changes for County Supervisors. State law which was voted on by the voters of California, mandates that the only way supervisors get a raise is if they vote for it (themselves). Therefore they were doing exactly what they were mandated to do. Even the papers reported that they had gone without for 9 years, so the raise averaged 3 to 4 percent. Guess Doug didn’t do the math.

It’s not so offensive if you really understand that it’s the way it works. Too bad Hardcastle didn’t do his homework either. Then again he never does and never has. He is always a day late and a dollar short. It’s the same with his involvement with our screwed up fire Dept. He claims he wants to fix it but does nothing and isn’t engaged. Maybe he is counting on leadership by osmosis?

The same goes for Steve Barr. Its a case of do what I say, don’t do what I do. Barr gave himself a 65 percent raise and sits on a council that has done nothing but overdevelop the city. Then he has the gall to suggest he is the fiscal conservative. What gives? Barr is NOT who I want for supervisor for east county. Everyone in my household is voting for Diane Burgis.

While you are hugging trees with dirty money all the other candidates will be focusing on East County citizens best interest.

Do you know what the definition of a hypocrite is? I’ll bet not.

Let me fill you in with a fact or two…

Steve Barr wants to claim he “is the financially responsible choice for county supervisor”.

But the facts read VERY differently.

1. Steve Barr VOTED to grant himself a 65 percent raise while chastising the BOS for attempting an 8 year salary correction of 33 percent (avg. of 4 percent a year). The BOS 33 percent raise never occurred HOWEVER Steve Barr’s 65 percent raise did. That is hypocritical and not exactly financially responsible now is it?

2. Steve Barr sits on the Brentwood city council. You know the city that has had the most explosive out of control growth in a county which is trying to limit growth and urban sprawl? Yeah, that one. So the question for you is are you enjoying all of the traffic, inconveniences and lack of services that come along with run away growth? If you are you can thank Mr. Barr for that.

3. And what about that bang up job he has done during his first stint with the East Contra Costa Fire District. Can you name a single accomplishment? Hell, can you name a single accomplishment he has done while on the Brentwood city council?

4. His biggest endorser is the Mayor he decided not to try to run against! The same mayor Steve Barr granted an astronomical and unheard of raise to. It made all of the news. You know, the very same Mayor who has no handle on finances, the same mayor who lost his house in foreclosure, the same mayor that couldn’t keep a hot dog stand in business. (you just can’t make this stuff up-it’s unreal). Yes this is the Mayor that is endorsing Steve Barr as a financially responsible choice. One might ask…based on WHAT?

We can do better, much better. Vote NO on Steve Barr.

Cameron, aliases, and minions
Your sales hub and attack only shows Steve Barr is a much more logical and responsible person to vote for. Diane on the park district for the short period and wants to jump ship is unprofessional and inexcusable. Above all, Diane’s acceptance of dirty money from two incumbent supervisors campaign accounts smells of collusion and cronyism. Vote no on Burgis for these factual reasons.

Anon May 18, 2016 - 9:56 pm

Unome, you are a laugh a minute. I wager you conviently dismissed the FACT that Diane Burgis was recruited by our current Supervisor across party lines because she is qualified above the rest of the pack. That’s a far cry from your hollow and repetitive diatribe. It’s amusing that you ignore the obvious, but that is after all where your ignorance is rooted. A normal person would have packed up and quietly departed, but not you. Yours is a special kind of stupid. You are far from normal and fail the self analysis test. You sir, have no idea what a clown you are. You just keep coming back for more, offering up yet more opportunities for many of us to provide clarity and facts. In contrast, You spew nonsense and try to label it as factual. Two words for you; epic fail.

You don’t have a clue that your posts and ludicrous commentary are helping Ms. Burgis and harming Steve Barr. Please keep it up.

Thanks.

Unome,

Unmakenosense. I wouldn’t even know where to begin with correcting your blather. You are angry and ignorant. That sucks big time and who knows maybe you will figure it out sometime. Until then, good luck, I sense you will need it.
