July 9: 5th Annual Interfaith Community Blood Drive

by ECT

On Thursday, July 9th from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM, the 5th Annual Interfaith Community Blood Drive sponsored by the American Red Cross will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church located at 500 Fairview Avenue, Brentwood, CA 94513.

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. will need a blood transfusion, which is used for trauma victims, such as patients dealing with accidents, burns, heart surgery, organ transplants, women with complications during childbirth, newborns and premature babies, and those receiving treatment for cancer and other diseases. Donating blood is crucial for saving lives, and there will be blood drives throughout the greater Bay Area every day in the month of July, except on Sundays.

The goal for these month-long blood drives is to collect more than double the 1,700 units of blood that were collected at last year’s event. It’s a quick, easy process to sign up to donate blood. Just go to: http://www.redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code: InterfaithCommunity.

You can confirm that you’re eligible to donate blood by visiting: http://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood/eligibility-requirements.

If you’re able to volunteer your time at the event, please contact Annette Beckstrand at [email protected] or Sarah Garber at [email protected]. You can also view more information about this service opportunity online at www.justserve.org.

The contact at the American Red Cross is Michael Miumi. Michael can be reached at (510) 406-2921 or [email protected].
