July 2-8: Antioch Police Briefs

Between July 2-8, the Antioch Police Department had 1,839 calls for service which netted 72 arrests according to Antioch City Manager Steve Duran.

Of those arrests, 26 were felony, 46 misdemeanor along with 1 DUI. Here is a recap of events provided in the City Manager, Steve Durans, weekly report.

July 4 Recap
On the evening of July 4 th 2015, Officers responded throughout the city to numerous calls for service regarding firework violations. Officers issued 9 citations for violations involving possession and/or igniting fireworks. Overall the night of July 4thwas relatively uneventful.

Stolen Truck and Motorcycle Recovered at Hudson Ct.
On 7/9/2015 at 5:01 am, Officers responded to 3421 Hudson Ct. regarding several subjects sitting in a truck near a motorcycle with tools scattered all over the ground. Upon their arrival, Officers determined the truck was stolen out of Bay Point. The motorcycle was stolen from Clayton. Zachary Rezentes, 27 years old, and Devin Farrow, 22 years old, were sitting in the truck and taken into custody. The truck and motorcycle were returned to their owners. Rezentes & Farrow were booked at the County jail.

Man Sleeping Arrested for Outstanding Warrant
On 7/8/2015 at 10:13 am, Officers responded to 1111 James Donlan Boulevard on the report of a subject slumped over the wheel in driver’s seat of a black Honda at the back of the complex. Upon their arrival, Officers found 28 year old Christopher Ramos was sleeping in the driver’s seat. He was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant charging vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, identity theft, resisting arrest and failing to yield to a Police vehicle. The warrant was the result of a recent pursuit case from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office. Officers requested Concord PD make contact with the registered owner of the vehicle Ramos was in and it was determined the vehicle was stolen. Ramos was taken into custody without incident and later booked at the County jail.

Man Found with Concealed Fix Blade Knife at City Park
On 7/8/2015 at 2:58 pm, Officers responded to the City Park at 1000 “A” St. on the report of subjects using controlled substances in an SUV. Officers made contact with an occupant of the SUV, 44 year old Charles York. York was found to have a large fixed blade knife concealed in his rear pant pocket. No narcotics or other contraband were located. York was arrested for possession of a dirk or dagger. He was booked at the County jail.

Man Arrested After Resisting Arrest
On 7/7/2015 at 8:18 am, Police were called to the Bonfare Market at 907 W.10thSt. regarding two males fighting. One male was reportedly chasing the other with a bat. When Officers arrived, 44 year old Marcus Dukes was running away from the business. Dukes was identified by witnesses in the area as one of the males involved in the altercation. Dukes exhibited symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance including being agitated and uncooperative. When Officers attempted to detain Dukes, he continued to be uncooperative and resisted arrest. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle. Dukes refused to provide a statement regarding the altercation. Dukes was arrested for resisting arrest, being under the influence of a controlled substance and violation of probation. He was booked at the County jail.

Man Arrested After Trying to Evade Police in a Canoe
On 7/6/2015 at 8:18 pm, an Officer was patrolling S. Lake Dr. and saw 38 year old Kary Smith at 85 S. Lake Drive. The Officer was aware Smith had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest charging auto theft and failing to yield to a Police vehicle. Officers attempted to contact Smith and he ran into the house and out the back to the lake. Smith took a canoe and attempted to paddle away from Officers when he overturned the canoe a short distance away from the dock. A perimeter was established and Smith was located a short time later attempting to hide under a nearby dock. Smith was taken into custody without incident and booked at the County jail.

Woman Arrested on Warrant
On 7/6/2015 at 7:22 pm, an Officer contacted 34 year old Regina West in the 2400 block of Shadow Lane regarding an unrelated investigation. A records check revealed she had an outstanding arrest warrant with No Bail on the charges of petty theft. West was taken into custody without incident and booked at the County jail.

Suspect Arrested on Warrant
On 7/6/2015 at 3:21 pm, an Officer was patrolling on E.6th St. when he saw 47 year old Duanieal Menifee. The Officer was aware Menifee had an outstanding arrest warrant for resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance. Menifee attempted to flee but was caught and taken into custody without further incident. Menifee was booked at the County jail.

Loitering Suspect Arrested on 2 Outstanding Warrants
On 7/6/2015 at 8:53 am, Officers contacted 32 year old Maree McClinton loitering in front of the Quik Stop at 1108 Sycamore Dr. A records check revealed McClinton was on probation and had (2) outstanding arrest warrants charging burglary, forgery and theft. He was arrested and booked at the County jail.

Police Perform High Risk Stop on Stolen Vehicle, Suspect Arrested
On 7/5/2015 at 8:28 pm, an Officer was on patrol on “A” St. near S.R. Hwy 4 when he saw a suspicious Honda and ran the plate with Dispatch. As the vehicle was entering S.R. Hwy. 4, Dispatch advised it was reported stolen out of Concord. The Officer followed the vehicle into a residential neighborhood in Pittsburg while cover units responded. Just as a cover Officer arrived the vehicle pulled to the right of the road and stopped. The Officers conducted a high risk stop. The driver, 22 year old Miguel Navarro, and his 31 year passenger were taken into custody without incident. Navarro was booked at the County jail and the passenger was released without charges.

Man Arrest on Camby Rd for Various Violations
On 7/5/2015 at 3:19 pm, Officers responded to a home in the 3500 block of Camby Rd regarding a violation of a restraining order. When they arrived, Officers contacted 36 year old Aaron Perez. A records check revealed Perez was violating the restraining order and had an outstanding arrest warrant for drug related charges. Perez was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. Perez was arrested for the aforementioned violations and the outstanding arrest warrant. He was also booked for violating felony probation. Perez was booked at the County jail.

Enfocement Stop Leads to Arrest
On 7/5/2015 at 8:22 am, an Officer made an enforcement stop for vehicle code violations on Hillcrest Ave. near E.18th St. The Officer contacted the driver, 37 year old Joseph Dufresne, and conducted a records check which revealed he had an outstanding arrest warrant for not complying with a work alternative program as the result of a DUI conviction. Dufresne was arrested and booked at the County jail.

Loaded Firearm Located During Traffic Stop
On 7/4/2015 at 9:11 pm, an Officer was patrolling in the area of E.18th St. and Evergreen Ave. conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver, 24 year old Joseph Miller, was determined to have a suspended drivers’ license. A search of the vehicle was conducted and a loaded .32 cal semi-automatic pistol was located under the driver’s seat. Miller was arrested and booked at the County jail. The gun was registered to a female from San Francisco. SFPD was contacted and the results of their inquiry into the status of the weapon is pending.

Woman Arrested After Illegally Parking Vehicle
On 7/4/2015 at 8:09 pm, an Officer was patrolling the area of “G” and W.10th Streets. He saw an occupied Honda vehicle illegally parked. The officer contacted the person in driver’s seat, 34 year old Richelle Becker. A records check revealed she had an outstanding arrest warrant for 2 counts of providing false information to Police and possession of drug paraphernalia. A search incident to arrest yielded methamphetamine, heroin & 28 prescription pills. She was arrested and booked at the County jail.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
On 7/3/2015 at 11:41 pm, an Officer was patrolling in the 6000 block of “G” St. and saw 51 year old Rudy Delgado standing in a front yard of a residence. The Officer was aware Delgado had two outstanding arrest warrants for petty theft and two additional for vehicle theft. The Officer contacted Delgado and he was taken into custody and later booked at the County jail.

Bicycle Violation Leads to Warrant Arrest
On 7/3/2015 at 11:20 pm, an Officer observed a bicyclist violate several municipal codes at Drake and “G” Streets. The Officer stopped the bicyclist, 41 year old Jesse Vallejo. A records check revealed Vallejo had outstanding arrest warrants for possession of a controlled substance, being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Vallejo was issued a promise to appear with a new court date and released in the field.

Subject Cited for Possession of Large Amount of Bottle Rockets
On 7/3/2015 at 4:44 pm, Officers responded to a report that fireworks were being sold from 9 Ginger Ct. The Officers contacted 36 year old Guanta Morris in front of the residence. She was found in possession of a large amount of bottle rockets. The fireworks were seized and Morris was issued a citation for violation of the Antioch Municipal Code.

Suspect Arrested on for H&S Violation
On 7/3/2015 at 3:26 pm, Officers responded to the Somersville Town Center due to a report of security observing 31 year old Jason Edelman wandering around the property consuming alcohol. When Officers arrived, Edelman was located inside the Macys store displaying symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Edelman told Officers he was in possession of Xanax but they were unable to locate any on him. He admitted he had “snorted” Xanax prior to being contacted. He was arrested and booked at the County jail.

Male Sleeping on Ground Arrest on Outstanding Felony Warrants
On 7/3/2015 at 1:27 pm, Officers were dispatched to the 2700 block on Lincoln Ln. regarding a male sleeping on the ground. When the Officers arrived, they contacted 22 year old Roy Neilson. A records check revealed that he had an outstanding felony arrest warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Neilson was arrested without incident and booked at the County jail.

Traffic Stop Nets Warrant Arrest
On 7/3/2015 at 11:35 am, an Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at “A” St. and S.R. Hwy 4. The driver, 24 year old Monica Castaneda, was found to have two outstanding arrest warrants each charging possession of a controlled substance. She was arrested without incident and booked at the County jail.
Burglary Suspect Caught by Homeowner Later Arrested
On 7/2/2015 at 3:45 pm, Officers responded to 3870 Oakley Road regarding a burglary in progress. When Officers arrived it was determined 47 year old Richard Allen was caught by the homeowner in his garage. The homeowner did not know Allen and chased him away. After doing so he noticed several of his tools moved inside the garage and suspected his intent was to steal them. Allen was contacted nearby and later identified by the victim as the one who was located in his garage.Allen was arrested and booked at the County jail for violation of probation and burglary.

Man Arrested for Possession of Heroin and Cocaine
On 7/2/2015 at 3:36 pm, an Officer conducted a vehicle stop at W.8th and “K” Streets. He contacted the driver, 27 year old Rodney Mayers, and a 21 year old occupant. Both consented to searches of their persons and the vehicle. Mayers was found to be in possession of heroin and cocaine. He was arrested and later released with a citation.

Man Hits Parked Car, Arrested on DUI Chargest
On 7/2/2015 at 2:19 am, 36 year old Eric Winkler was driving on Gentrytown Dr when he hit a parked car. His vehicle became disabled in the middle of the street and he got out and started to walk away. As he did so, an Officer drove up and detained him. Winkler admitted being in the collision and was arrested for DUI. Winkler later provided a breath sample at the station which returned as 0.42% BAC. He was later booked at the County jail.

Suspect Arrested After Fleeing from Police, Drops Cocaine and Heroin
On 7/2/2015 at 12:17 am, Officers were searching for a fugitive in the 400 block of W.19thSt. While doing so, Officers saw several subjects flee from the front of 415 W.19th St. One of the subjects fled into the home at that location. Officers secured the house and found 19 year old Francisco Lopez. While attempting to detain Lopez, he dropped a container which had cocaine and heroin inside. Lopez was placed under arrest and booked at the county jail.
