A beautiful thing occurred in Brentwood last week as Habitat For Humanity provided multiple upgrades and completed rehabilitation projects for William Prince Brentwood Home on Birch Street.

William Prince, 68, is a retired Navy veteran with 30-years of service was provided with new windows, a water heater, new fences, kitchen equipment, drainage pipe fix, and other forms of maintenance as volunteers worked for three-days on the home.

Upon project start, Mr. Prince first action was to head towards a fence that had frustrated him for the past two-years. He took a hammer and began tearing it out.

“It looks a little better without the old fence, maybe my neighbors will go to another neighborhood now,” said Prince with a laugh as he was referring to neighbors not being able to recognize his home.

His daughter, Carolyn Prince Garner, was appreciative of the project and thankful for all the volunteerism.

“My appreciation towards Habitat for Humanity and their volunteers is immeasurable! My dad has a heart of gold and helps his neighbors without any hesitation. He works hard on keeping up his home and when we learned that Habitat was going to help with projects outside of his means we were excited and beyond grateful,” said Garner. “We hope to volunteer with Habitat here in East County on upcoming projects. Thank you again to Habitat, Home Depot, Dow and all of the volunteers”

Upon completion of the project, Mr. Prince was provided with a brand new flag to fly at his home.

Awesome way to thank a veteran. Wish I could designate my taxes to helping our veterans and Wounded Warriors. WTG Habitat for Humanity
