Friends of Marsh Creek Watershed and Kohls Partner to Clean Fish Ladder

by ECT

Friends of Marsh Creek Watershed wants to recognize & thank the volunteers from the Kohl’s Brentwood store for coming out and volunteering with FOMCW today to help clean up the Marsh Creek Fish Ladder.

Volunteers, including the store manager George, helped remove trash from around the creek, debris from the fish ladder passage and removed weeds from the surrounding structure. Volunteers came out on their own time AND by them volunteering with us Kohl’s will also provide a donation to FOMCW that will be used towards the Summer Internship Program this summer.

Kohls Marsh Creek2The Summer Internship starts on June 15th. Students will have an opportunity to earn two credits towards their high school graduation, get work experience, & those that qualify can also be paid. Students also earn community services hours and begin working on AP projects as well with this program.

So far we have kids from Antioch High, Deer Valley, Prospect High, Independence High, Liberty High & Freedom High School. We are interviewing students from Pittsburg High School as well!

We have a few slots left in the high school program AND are still taking applications for college interns as well.

Those interested should email [email protected] with SUMMER INTERNSHIP in the subject title.
