Firefighters Knockdown 2-Alarm Commercial Fire in Antioch

by ECT

At 11:16 pm Wednesday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of a commercial structure fire in the 2400 block of Sycamore Drive in the City of Antioch.

CONFIRE is still investigating the cause of the fire, however, early reports from witnesses were that the fire possibly began on the exterior of the building before it entered the structure. The fire got up into the attic and the covered walkway which looped around the building.

According to Dutter, the fire was knocked down quickly, but they needed the manpower on scene which was the cause of the second-alarm response.

The fire was first reported by 11:16 pm and the second-alarm response was called by 11:31 pm. By 11:41 pm a majority of the fire was knocked down and by 12:12 am, the fire was deemed out.

Dutter explained the fire had potential to cause more damage but crews made quick work for the fire limiting it to two tenants. It had potential to impact 15 to 16 businesses.

No other details were available.
