Fire Causes $40k in Damage to Brentwood Home

by ECT

At roughly 8:21 am Tuesday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a residential structure fire on Pristine Way in Brentwood which damaged a home to the tune of $40,000.

Upon arrival, crews observed light smoke from a second story bedroom with sprinkler activation. Crews had to briefly wait for the second engine to arrive before entering the home . Upon entry, they sized up the fire and attacked what remained as the sprinklers had limited the fire to the nightstand area in the master bedroom.

The damage was considered moderate due to extensive water damage to the home to the estimated cost of $40,000. No one was injured. The incident required five engines and two chief officers on scene along with Brentwood Police.

Five engines required? Sounds like a garden hose would have sufficed. Lol!

I agree with you. 5 Engines, 2 Chiefs and Brentwood P.D.? Talk about a slow day. This comes on the heels of the ECCFPD Board voting against the June parcel tax. Maybe they knew something we didn’t know before this whole thing started.

Fireman Fred, if this was your house would have been happy with a garden hose??
Yes Man, aren’t these salaries paid 24/7/365 whether these professionals are sitting at the station, home, or saving lives and property??

this is my house and the damage far exceeds $40,000 AND i TAKE GREAT OFFENSE TO THE COMMENTS REGARDING A GARDEN HOSE. I HAVE 4 CHILDREN AND PETS THAT RESIDE HERE AND DESPITE SPRINKLERS THE FIRE WAS STILL GOING WHEN THE TRUCKS ARRIVED. I CALLED ASKING FOR HELP AND DID NOT ASK FOR OR EXPECT THE NUMBER OF RESPONDERS THE ARRIVED BUT I AM GRATEFUL FOR ALL OF THEM. PLS THINK TWICE BEFORE SHARING RUDE AND UNNECESSARY COMMENTS. MY AUTISTIC SON HAD JUST FINALLY GOTTEN SETTLED AND NOW WE ARE DISPLACED AGAIN! U DO NOT KNOW OF WHOM YOU SPEAK BUT IM SURE IF IT WERE YOUR HOME THAT HAD BEEN AFFECTED BY FIRE AND FLOODING YOU WOULD NOT BE SO INSENSITIIVE!
