Family Displaced After Attic Fire in Discovery Bay

On Tuesday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to the 4800 block of South Point in the Town of Discovery Bay for a report of a house fire.

According to the District, the fire came in at approximently 3:00 pm Engine 59 arrived on scene and reported smoke coming from the roof area and all occupants were evacuated.

Crews were able to make entry to the home for fire attack and contained the fire to the attic area, however, water damage occurred throughout the home—the home was ultimately red tagged and the residents were displaced. It took crews an hour to get the flames under control.

According to the District, a total of $425k in damages were estimated. The cause of the fire is under investigation according to Battalion Chief Craig Auzenne.
