Fairfield: Man Dies After Being Stabbed by Mom’s Son During Domestic Dispute

by ECT

On October 25, 2015 at 6:00 am, the Fairfield Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from a resident in the 700 block of Overture Lane. The resident requested an ambulance for her husband stating that she could not wake him up. Fairfield Fire and Police Department personnel arrived on scene and discovered that the victim, a 45 year old male, had died from an apparent stab wound.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit began an investigation into this death. During the investigation it was determined that the victim and his wife had been in an argument and that the argument became physical.

The wife’s son, fearing for his mom’s safety, retrieved a knife from the kitchen and defended his mother by stabbing the victim.

After carefully considering all of the facts and evidence and discussing the case with both the Solano County District Attorney’s office and Child Welfare Services, no arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing and any updates will be released at the appropriate time.

Yesterday’s events were tragic for everyone involved. A wife lost her husband, a family lost a loved one, and a child will forever have to live with the knowledge that someone died as the result of his actions. Out of respect for the family in order to provide them time to mourn and heal, we are asking that all press inquiries be directed to the Fairfield Police Department. Please contact Officer Cleo Mayoral at 707-580-1067.

Domestic violence is all too prevalent in our society, and much of it goes unreported. It poses a serious threat to a child’s emotional, psychological, and physical well-being. Children living in homes where domestic violence occurs are abused and neglected fifteen times more than the national average. 20% of all domestic violence cases reported to the Fairfield Police Department have children under the age of 12 living in the home.

No child should have to live in fear for his safety or the safety of a loved one. If you or someone you love is a victim of domestic violence we urge you to seek help from your local law enforcement office. Here at the Fairfield Police Department you can contact the Family Violence Unit at (707) 428-7770.
