On December 31, 2015 Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit and Special Operation Team of the Fairfield Police Department served a search warrant at the home of Eric Hankins, a science teacher at Fairfield High School.
The search warrant, and subsequent arrest of Mr. Hankins, came as a result of an ongoing investigation into allegations that he was having an inappropriate relationship on campus with a 14 year old student.
The possible relationship was first brought to the attention of the Fairfield Police Department and the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District earlier in December. At that time Mr. Hankins was placed on administrative leave while the investigation continued.
Eric Hankins, a 27 year old Fairfield resident was booked into Solano County Jail on charges of Lewd and Lascivious Behavior with a Child 14 years or younger. No information will be released about the victim due to the minor’s age.

Fairfield Police are encouraging parents to speak with their children about reporting inappropriate behavior that occurs on or off school grounds.

I’m so sick of pedophiles, especially at schools. Where children should feel safe. Throw the book at him.
I’m sorry, did u know him, because he was allegedly convicted not certainly, I had him as a teacher and he is a awesome teacher, everyone loved him, so don’t just say that he is a pedophile until reports have proof that he did have sexual relations with that student.
You may be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, but this is the court of public opinion. You’re only innocent if you “didn’t do it.” I’m entitled to my opinion, and I don’t care what kind of teacher he was. If he was arrested for having sex with a student, he’s a pedophile. Get out of denial. All I care about is the children. Screw him… no pun intended.
