In the East County, apparently “diablo” is more appealing than “marijuana”-how ironic. How about we progress past the outdated, Jim Crow-esque laws of the 1930’s? Or maybe I should fall in line with the moderator of this website and hypocritically post all the wine makers in the area, then talk of the dangers of DUI. Sometimes I’m embarrassed to be a part of this community.

“When one looks at our drug laws — indeed, at our vice laws altogether — the only organizing principle that appears to make sense of them is that anything which might radically eclipse prayer or procreative sexuality as a source of pleasure has been outlawed. In particular, any drug (LSD, mescaline, psilocybin, DMT, MDMA, marijuana, etc.) to which spiritual or religious significance has been ascribed by its users has been prohibited. Concerns about the health of our citizens, or about their productivity, are red herrings in this debate, as the legality of alcohol and cigarettes attests.

The fact that people are being prosecuted and imprisoned for using marijuana, while alcohol remains a staple commodity, is surely the reductio ad absurdum of any notion that our drug laws are designed to keep people from harming themselves or others…” (Sam Harris)

In the east county apparently “diablo” is more appealing than “marijuana”- how ironic. How about we progress as a society past the outdated, Jim Crow-esque cannabis laws of the 1930’s. Or should I just fall in line like the mod of ECT and highlight the dangers of DUI, then turn the other cheek and praise the wine industry? Maybe I shouldn’t say too much to not upset the baby boomers and their affinity to racist Hearst and his “castle” 🙂

WoW ignorance is Bliss for the above, who make ridiculous comments. So when someone dies in a honey oil lab explosion or these drug dealers sell the root of evil to or children? You make half baked comments, to justify your stoned values.

Hash oil is being produced safely already within the medical cannabis industry because of progressive regulation, education on the process, and access to the relevant technology/tools. Many people purchase this plant oil already from responsible manufacturers without explosions. Just like home-based alcohol manufacturers during Prohibition, obvious risks are taken in the attempt to make profit from the black market that has been created due to the nature of the drug war.

Making moralistic claims like “root of evil” and fear-mongering about the wellbeing of children are mere leftovers of America’s puritanical upbringing. America’s children are already willingly given drugs of all sorts from birth: sugar, caffeine, sterioidals from meat consumption, etc. It’s time we moved on from this and chose education over fear.

At LE exactly so why introduced another substance(marijuana) in our society if sugar, caffeine, steroids from meat consumption is bad? It’s not fear mongering, it’s facts. What proof do you have that this lab was safe, or part of any medical industry. IF You are indeed LE and have facts, I worry about our safety and your ignorance. I have seen first hand burn victims and death from honey oil labs. Get real LE and smoke another bong.

Just what we need a pot head LE in our society. Your personal feelings on marijuana or your personal views in honey oil mean nothing. Your job is to enforce the Law. Do your job. When was the last time you slapped the cuffs on somebody and did your job. Ignorance is Bliss.

Hey “wake up” I think you need to wake up and smell the cannabanoids. Plants that create “drug” chemicals have been around millions of years before mankind and before society ever existed on this planet. Opium poppies, morning glories, peyote, psilocybin mushrooms, belladonna, ETC. So how can one be blamed for introducing marijuana to society? That’s obviously naive. Humans and other animals have endogenous chemical brain receptors that respond only to those schedule-1 type narcotics. If you want someone to be angry at for the existence of drugs, then blame the God that made originally created them all (and made our brains with the relevant receptors).

I don’t think the commenter LE before you was saying this recent oil lab discovery was a safe one, BUT that there are already safe/legal labs within the medical cannabis industry. This discovery was just of another amateurish home-based attempt.

P.s. Learn some argumentation skills before always jumping to ad hominem attacks.

What about all the drunk driving deaths happening on a daily basis all over the america? These numbers are way bigger than the deaths caused by hash labs. to be consistent, why not campaign to close down all liquor stores on every corner? Make all restaurants stop selling it? Tell the major companies to stop making alcohol? Make billboards and commercials stop advertising it to us and children?

Cathy Jan 3, 2016 - 1:09 pm

Soooooo? The crime being committed here isn’t the use of the product but the manufacturing of it. I don’t want honey oil labs, meth labs, crack labs or any of that other shit being made in my neighborhood. As it is still an illegal substance it attracts some people that are okay with committing other crimes.I am glad and support my police force for enforcing the law.

I don’t have a problem with people that benefit from the use of cannabis but until it becomes legal and it is manufactured properly and legally keep it out of my neighborhood!

Thank you Cathy! An adult.

Kelley Jan 3, 2016 - 7:05 pm

Why did everybody go off the subject???? A “lab” was found in antioch….. Problem? Yes!!!!

Julio Jan 3, 2016 - 7:22 pm

Kelley, unfortunately those are the kind of people blogs deal with. I think Cathy said it all. As you said, problem yes!

Richard Nixon Jan 3, 2016 - 8:28 pm

I am Richard Nixon and I approve this message…

In 1971 my administration began the War on Drugs, and it gives me great pleasure to see our best and finest still pressing forward to defeat enemy #1. Although the U.S. undoubtedly has more drugs on its streets, prison complexes, and more prisoners than the rest of the entire world to fill them since the day I was in office, it’s oil lab busts like this that make it all worth it. Keep up the good fight Antioch! In no time we will have a planet free of any mind-altering substances or anything that would distract us from the true goal: total control over the hearts and minds of all American citizens. God bless!

JJ Jan 5, 2016 - 1:47 pm

Potheads always defend things like this under the guise of “it’s for the sick people” smh. Who’s to say they were making it for somebody who was ill or not just for getting high? THC content can be very high in hash oil, almost 60% and there’s profit to be made. They put everyone around them at risk!

Adolf Jan 25, 2016 - 4:47 pm

Ronald Reagan, is that you back from the dead? Oh wait, it’s just you’re fearful ideological clone JJ 🙂
