Electrical Fire Causes $75k in Damages to Brentwood Home Sunday Morning

At 5:27 am Sunday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a residential structure fire in the 700 block of Sarah Street in Brentwood.

Upon arrival, Battalion Chief 5 confirmed the incident was a working attic fire.

Engine 52 (Brentwood) located light smoke coming from the gable vents of the single story residential structure and was able to secure electrical utilities and established the scene.

Fire crews began pulling the ceiling in the living room down to extinguish the fire and quickly extinguished the fire after removing the insulation.

According to Jeff Burris, Battalion Chief, the property damage was estimated at $75,000 with several rafters and ceiling joists damaged due to the fire along with smoke damage throughout the structure.

The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical in nature and crews were on scene for just under 3-hours.

No injuries were reported.
