East Contra Costa Fire Battles House Fire on Byron Highway

At 4:13 pm Tuesday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection was dispatched to a report of a outbuilding on fire in the 10800 block of Byron Highway in unincorporated Brentwood.

Upon arrival, Engine 59 out of Discovery Bay reported that the outbuilding was on fire and had extended to the home catching the home on fire. The fire then become well involved and defensive fire attack occurred given time and distance of resources.

According to the District, another issue was crews were battling high winds.

No injuries were reported and at least two people were displaced by the fire. The fire was knocked down by 5:30 pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Cause was likely “electrical” in nature per Fire Marshal Steve Aubert

Note – Contra Costa County Sheriff was called along with CHP to shut down Byron Highway, the roadway is now open but expect around the area of the incident.
