On April 14, 2022, an alert parent contacted the Tracy Police Department to report her son (14 years old) had been receiving sexually suggestive text messages (via a phone app.) from his basketball coach, Donovan Zachary London (21 years old from Discovery Bay).
The basketball program is not affiliated with a school. An officer assigned to patrol conducted a thorough investigation of the allegations and forwarded the report to the Tracy Police Department General Investigations Unit, where our Crime Against Children Detectives Azevedo, Tellez, and Ortiz continued investigating.
London’s sexually explicit messages continued throughout the investigation. Believing he was communicating with the child, London agreed to meet the victim in Tracy for the purpose of engaging in sex acts. However, he was met by officers from the Special Enforcement Team and detectives from our Special Investigation Unit. London was taken into custody without incident.
London was initially booked into the San Joaquin County jail on May 3, 2022. Upon the service of search warrants, it was determined that London also possessed child pornography. The additional charge of possession of child pornography was added on May 5, 2022. At this time, we have no information to suggest there are additional victims.
