At 8:13 pm Saturday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a structure fire in the 4800 block of Spinnaker Way in Discovery Bay.
Upon arrival, Engine 59 located a deck and hot tub on fire behind the home. Firefighters were quickly able to make fire attack and prevent further spread of the fire to the home. They checked for extension underneath the deck as well.
According to Battalion Chief Jeff Burris, the cause of the fire is unknown, however both the hot tub and deck around the hot tub were destroyed by the fire. Crews also removed sections of the desk for fire extension. He also highlighted the home owner stated they were having work done to the deck and there was a lot of saw dust underneath the deck.
No one was injured, however, damages were estimated at $20,000.
