Discovery Bay Home Damaged in Fire Saturday Evening

by ECT

On Saturday at 7:00 pm, the East Contra Costa Fire protection District responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 5300 block of Gold Creek Cir. in the Town of Discovery Bay after smoke was reported in an upstairs bedroom.

Engine 59 arrived on scene to locate light smoke coming from the home.

According to Battalion Chief Jeff Burris, a hose was used from the exterior of the home to prevent spread while they awaited for additional units to arrive. Once they arrived, an interior fire attack was made on the second-story of the home. They entered the master bedroom and knocked the fire down.

Burris said the incident caused fire damage to the second floor of the home with heavy smoke damage throughout the house. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Crews were on scene for just over 2-hours.
