Discovery Bay: Armed Robbery Attempted

Amanda Dove out in Discovery Bay is reporting the following incident that transpired last night where an armed man with a shotgun attempted to rob Dash/Valero gas station in Discovery Bay. According to her website Delta Sun Times, these are the updates:

Crime Alert

TUESDAY 9:48 PM (10-2-12)  —  An armed man attempted to rob the Dash/Valero gas station and market (at Discovery Bay Blvd and Riverlake Road). He is on foot in Discovery Bay, and in possession of a shot gun.  Be vigilant, lock your doors and report any unusual activity.

UPDATE:  10:17 PM.  —- Roadblocks at Dolphin Place/Sandpoint Road.  Search for suspect on foot.  Helicopter search overhead.  STAY INSIDE – helicopter using heat sensor, so is alerted to anyone on their back deck in the Dolphin / Dune / Anchorage / Sandpoint area.

UPDATE:  10:43 PM:  No sign of suspect, but search continues. Now also looking for low-jacked red Mercedes.

UPDATE:  10:51 PM:   STOLEN CAR FOUND AT CHERRY HILLS DRIVE / HIGHWAY 4 DIRT ROAD/SLOUGH.  NO SUSPECT FOUND.

UPDATE  11:13 PM:   Highway 4 at Discovery Bay is closed. Take Clipper to get out.  Search for suspect ongoing.

UPDATE:  7:20 AM (10-3-12):   It does not appear the suspect has been located.  Expect an official update and comment from the Contra Costa County Sheriff at about 9:00 AM

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY SHERIFF UPDATE —- 9:00 AM (10-3-12)  —-

Last night at about 9:30 PM, the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff received a report of an armed robbery at a convenience store located on the 1500 block of Discovery Bay Boulevard. The clerk at the store said a man armed with a shotgun entered and demanded money. After receiving money, the suspect fled on foot.
 
Deputy Sheriffs set up a perimeter and began searching for the suspect. A California Highway Patrol helicopter assisted in the search. A police K-9 was also used.
 
The suspect was not located. The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20′s. He was wearing a white mask and a baseball cap.
 
There were no injuries.

LOL–CHP got a lo-jac hit on the stolen car but the SO couldn’t find it. And while the SO was doing this, freight train hit a person in Oakley and major car crash on Highway 4 at Hillcrest overcrosssing. Listening to the scanner was much more entertaining that TV!
