Discovery Bay: 1 Critically Injured in Saturday Evening Crash

At 7:43 pm Saturday, emergency crews responded to a two vehicle accident in Discovery Bay which left one person in critical condition.

The accident occurred on Highway 4 and Bixler Road where crews arrived to find one patient trapped in a vehicle with critical injuries. In total, there were 4-patients in which the other three patients had minor injuries.

Engine 59 was first on scene and began extrication on the critical patient who was trapped. AMR assisted on scene of the three minor injury patients. Once free from the vehicle, the patient was transported by helicopter to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.

According to the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, both vehicles were totaled.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Cynthia, mike is my uncle, he had surgery on his face and is slowly recovering at John Muir in walnut creek. He’ll be ok just alot of recovery time ahead of him. Thank you for your concerns and for being there to help him.

is he okay from his legs? will he be able to walk?

Yes he had surgery they put a plate and a number of screws/bolts…he will be ok..physical therapy startes already….they don’t mess around at john muir wc…he was up walking…with a walker.
