Dec. 21: Tunnels of Joy Fundraiser Set for Ryan Petty

by ECT

The Tunnels of Joy will host their fundraiser night on December 21 from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm to help raise money for Ryan Petty, a local Brentwood teenager who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

Petty, 14, was diagnosed with leukemia in May of this year and will be on treatment over the next 3-years. There is currently a donation box on La Costa Drive for those who cannot make the fundraiser.

This year, the number of participating homes has reached 43 after launching in 2016 with one neighbor who decided to add a tunnel of lights to their display and each year has seen it grow as well as the amount of decorations on each home.

The tunnels were named after Joy Bursch, a neighbor who lost her battle with cancer in 2009. Neighbors had already displayed lawn ornaments with the name ‘JOY’, however when the tunnels came to fruition, the neighbors decided to name tunnels after Joy as well, and hence, the name “Tunnels of Joy” was born.

The display is open nightly from sunset until 10:00 pm where members of the community can walk La Costa Drive off St. Andrews Drive in Deer Ridge in the city of Brentwood.

The event features a variety of Christmas light displays, decor and even have vendors where you can purchase food and goodies.  On the 21st, the The Storytime Princesses will also be in attendance.
