Contra Costa Winegrowers Set to Host Barrel Tasting Trolley Weekend

by ECT

The Contra Costa Winegrowers Association has announced tickets for its First Annually Barrel Tasting Trolley Weekend are now on sale.

During this two-day event, participants will meet the winemakers, vintners, while sampling wines still in development right out of the barrel. You also may take the opportunity to purchase futures for your very own wine cellar. The best way to enjoy this beautiful wine country is aboard the wine trolley.

According to the Winegrowers Association, the trolleys loop around to stops every 20 minutes, and last pick up is at 4:15 p.m. You have options to purchase tickets for either day and choosing your own start location.

Contra Costa Winegrowers association president Becky Bloomfield said the event has been three years in the making which planning began in 2019. The event was supposed to be in May of 2020 but with the pandemic it was postponed.

“These are grapes that our grown in your backyard and wine produced in town. Wineries have won many awards and we are excited to share them with everyone,” said Bloomfield. “This has been three years in the making so everyone is excited. Barrel tasting is fun and its nice to taste wines that have not been bottled yet and they will only get better.”

Bloomfield added that on top of barrel tasting, each facility is offering food and entertainment at each stop.

Trolley Ticket includes: Wine Tastings, “Hop on Hop Off” Shuttle to Local Wineries, Safe traveling & No hassle parking, Souvenir Glass, Wine Tote, Food & More. The location your start at will also be your ending location.

  • $95 – 1 Day Trolley Ticket: Non-Trolley Riders Ticket includes: Wine Tastings, Souvenir Glass, Wine Tote, Food & More.
  • $70 – 1 Day Non-Trolley Riders

Barrel Tasting is an opportunity to meet the winemakers, learn a bit about the wine making process and mostly buy “futures” of the wines, you sample from the barrel.
