Contra Costa Office of the Sheriff to Participate in National Night Out

by ECT

The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff looks forward to taking part in National Night Out events throughout the county on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. It is an excellent opportunity for Office of the Sheriff staff to meet the residents and communities that we serve.

National Night Out is a community-building campaign started by the National Association of Town Watch that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Neighborhoods throughout the county and across the nation host block parties, festivals, cookouts and other community events that feature safety demonstrations, youth activities and visits from emergency personnel and exhibits. Sheriff’s Office Deputies and staff will stop by some neighborhoods to interact with residents and share crime prevention tips.

“This is a time for our communities to come together to promote safety, awareness, and unity,” said Sheriff David O. Livingston. “These events are fun, effective, and inexpensive ways to interact with your neighbors and law enforcement, while strengthening those relationships and partnerships.”

Residents wanting to set up a National Night Out event can register at the National Association of Town Watch website at: https://natw.org/registration. Registration is free and includes an organizational kit and coordinator toolkit.
