by ECT

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District quickly sprung into action at 4:20 pm Tuesday afternoon where they saved an apartment complex after a fire was reported with flames as high as the roof.

According to dispatch, multiple callers called the fire. Upon arrival, Quint 83 confirmed smoke and flames which could be scene from both Oakley and Pittsburg. CONFIRE and Antioch police quickly went into rescue to ensure all residents were out of the building.

Upon further investigation, the fire was actually between two buildings due to a pile of mattresses and garbage.

The fire did manage to catch the exterior of one building on fire, however, crews were able to contain the blaze in roughly 10-minutes. The incident caused up to $20,000 in damage and did not extend into the apartments.

The incident occurred on Fairview Avenue adjacent to the Antioch Mall between Hudson Ct. and Potomac Dr.
