Concord Police K9 Bites, Detains 40-year-old Pittsburg Man After Vehicle Pursuit

On Oct. 24 at approximately 10:30 PM, a CPD Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Grant Street and Olivera Road. The officer recognized the driver of the vehicle and was aware he had an outstanding felony warrant for vehicle theft.

The suspect failed to yield to officers and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit led to S/B I680 where the suspect ultimately crashed on the connector ramp for W/B 580 in Dublin. The suspect fled from the vehicle and attempted to jump over a sound wall to get away from officers, but was apprehended with the assistance of a CPD K-9.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility for housing.

The suspect was booked on his outstanding warrant, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of methamphetamine for sales, evading a peace officer, resisting arrest, and felony probation violation.

The suspect is a 40 year-old, Pittsburg resident. His name is not being released at this time.
