On Tuesday, Brentwood City Councilwoman Claudette Staton requested under future agenda items to discuss the idea of renaming Brentwood City Park after Mayor Bob Taylor.
Staton stated briefly why she thought it would be a good idea:
“I want to talk about a person who has done a lot for the city and that is you Mr. Mayor. We just approved an ordinance renaming. I’ve known you since 2005 and I met you at Ronald Reagan’s community lunch in at the Nines and I have watched you over the years and how you got things done from Highway 4, library, city hall, community center, talking at different events and representing our city on a regional level. How determined you were on replacing the gazebo at the community park and bringing in the big chair and the cost that was incurred during COVID-19 and many other things, I would like to ask the staff into looking at renaming the city park after mayor Bob Taylor and for dedicating a plaque for our mayor for all he has done for our city. He has been mayor for a very long time.”
Staton said she wanted staff to look into that.
Mayor Bob Taylor declined to comment on the request during the meeting. No other council member opted to offer comments and it will come back to the council at the next meeting for discussion.
Mayor Taylor opted not to seek re-election this fall announcing he would retire at the end of his term. Taylor was first elected Mayor in 2006 after being elected in 2004 to the Brentwood City Council.
Earlier in the meeting, the Council approved a Naming/Dedication Policy.

This coming from the councilwoman who doesn’t even know where the one operating fire station is last night and she lives less than a mile away. This woman should be voted out.

Name the park after BIG TONE
Bob was a tool , he did not look out for the history of “OLD ” Brentwood citizens which their are plenty of that have done alot more for Brentwood without being in public office . Bob gave in to outside influence not Brentwood citizens.
You want to talk about history? Name the park after the woman who “DONATED” The property so it would “only” be a park ! She deserves it !!
