BRENTWOOD, CA – The City of Brentwood announced Monday the appointment of Tom Hansen to Chief of Police for the City of Brentwood effective December 16, 2017.
Hansen has been in the acting capacity as Chief of Police since April 2017 and has done an outstanding job. He has worked for the City of Brentwood for over 22 years, as Police Officer starting in 1995, promoted to Sergeant in 1999, to Lieutenant in 2006 and to Captain in 2012.
Hansen holds degrees in Criminal Justice (Bachelor of Science) and Emergency Services Administration (Master of Science).
From 2008 through 2014, Hansen attended several leadership training sessions at the
West Point Leadership Program, the FBI National Academy, and the Senior Management Institute for Police.
The city said Hansen brings tremendous energy and a vision for the future of the Police Department that will serve this City Council and the community very well. As Police Chief, Hansen will also serve as a member of Brentwood’s Executive Team participating on citywide efforts with the other city department directors
