On Saturday, the City of Antioch welcomed its newest park, an all-access playground at the Prewett Community Park off Lone Tree Way.

img_8104Nancy Kaiser, Parks and Recreation Director, called the park a legacy for the Prewett family and a showcase for the community.

“This playground introduces a whole new element to the Prewett Community park,” said Kaiser. “It’s the showpiece of our community. We have the water park, the Antioch water park, our beloved community center, the library, we have a skate park. We have our contribution to nature with our 28-acre owl preserve. It’s a multi-use and well diverse park for all citizens of Antioch.”

Mayor Pro Tem Lori Ogorchock spoke on behalf of the city council thanking the community.

“It’s been fun driving by watching the different stages of construction and we got to see it. It was really exciting seeing the park come to fruition,” said Ogorchock. “What is so exciting to me is the all-accessible so that all children will be able to utilize the park. All children or all ages, with any need can get onto the playground.”

Prewett Community Park is located at 4703 Lone Tree Way, Antioch CA
