by ECT

At 12:54 pm Monday, Contra Costa County Firefighters responded to the 1000 block of Mcavoy Road in Bay Point on a report of two people in the water in Bay Point.

Engine 86 arrived at Mcavoy Marina with AMR and the Contra Costa County Sheriffs deputies to attempt to locate, however, due to vegetation along the marina, could not get eyes on the water. Contra Costa County Fire dispatched fire boats from both the City of Antioch and City of Pittsburg to the rescue where it was reported two males were about 200 yards off shore and in distress.

While responding, CHP helicopter H30 was in the air and responded to the area and located the father and son in the water who had been in 15 foot aluminum boat.

Within minutes, H30 rescued both men who were checked out by AMR on scene and later released without injury.
