CHP: Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle on Highway 4 Near L Street

At 11:16 pm Saturday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vehicle crash on Highway  near L Street in Antioch. In total, four vehicles were involved after a vehicle versus pedestrian crash causing damages to multiple vehicles.

The incident caused a SIGALERT by 11:37 pm which blocked Lanes 1, 2 and 3.

According to CHP, the pedestrian sustained major injuries with fractures to both arms and lower leg. The pedestrian as ultimately transported to the hospital with major injuries.  There was no word on why the male was on Highway 4.

By 1:28 am Sunday, all lanes were open.

I’ve seen people walking up the off ramp of the freeway there several times. I can’t say I’m surprised someone was hit.

That person that got hit was my step son. He accendtly hit a car in the back. He got out to see if the people in the car was alrite, then a car that was probably texting hit him. He’s at John Muir in walnut creek. He lost his leg from knee down. Head and brain injury. Broke almost every bone in body. He’s only 29 yrs. Pls pray for him. Thank you

Ruby! I am praying for you & your family. I drove by your nephew as the paramedics were arriving. I assumed the worst when I saw him but I am so thankful he is alive! Your nephew & the rest of your family will be in my prayers.

That’s terrible! There are ways of saving the leg! The brain injury will take time to heal but one must get therapy. The rest of the fractures will heal …. arms, etc. So sorry this happened to your family member, Rudy.
