CHP: 47 Killed, 1,166 Arrests During Christmas Maximum Enforcement Period

The California Highway Patrol reported Wednesday that during their Maximum Enforcement Period, officers made 1,166 arrests while 47 people were killed in fatal crashes.

Locally, in the Golden Gate Division, they reported DUI’s and fatal crashes were up this year when compared to 2017.  This year, there were 157 motorists who were arrested for driving under the influence while 3 people lost their life in fatal crashes.

In 2017, where they reported just 144 DUI’s along with 1 fatal crash. The fatal crash was CHP Officer Andrew Camilleri caused by an impaired driver on Christmas Eve.

The CHP Christmas Maximum Enforcement Period was held between December 21 through December 25.
