Byron: Vegetation Fire Shuts Down Vasco Road Friday Afternoon

At 2:00 pm Friday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of Vasco Road  near Walnut Blvd in Byron.

It was reported as three separate fires all within close proximity of one another. Engine 59 reported smoke showing from the fire station.

According to Battalion 5, they were a mile south of Walnut Blvd on Vasco Road. They confirmed multiple fires and requested CHP to shut down Vasco Road in both directions.

UPDATE
As of 2:30 pm, the fire was under control, however, extensive overhaul was required.
